Specialty coffee is all about the taste. Coffee can taste radically different depending on a plethora of factors. The specific properties of each coffee bean (its variety, origin, altitude, climate region, soil type, harvest date, processing method, etc) helps compose the symphony of flavors found in a cup of coffee. This is the beauty of specialty coffee. We cherish diversity and innovation for they provide amazingly different products.
At La Floresta coffee farm we pay attention to all of these details and learn from every factor possible.

Producing exceptional coffee requires a healthy and thriving environment.
The abundant shade cover and variety of flora on our farm is essential to preserving our land. The trees help keep our healthy top soil from washing away while also providing it with incredible organic matter as the leaves fall to decompose. Our shade canopy provides food and homes to many birds, squirrels, opossum, reptiles, and insects while also protecting our coffee from drastic climate changes, making us more resilient and sustainable. As an organic coffee farm, we know that our most important resource is our soil. That is why we prepare our own organic fertilizers that helps soil microbiology using traditional and contemporary methods and recipes. Our pesticides and fungicides are also homemade by mixing a variety of plants with garlic, onion, and hot peppers, creating a plant extract that helps us combat the coffee bean borer and coffee leaf rust (the main threats of coffee production). Lastly, our honey bees remind us of the delicate balance we must maintain as they help pollinate all of the plants and trees, including the coffee.
